For elite international wingshooters who have already conquered the 1,000 Dove Club, stepping down to a .410 bore shotgun offers the ultimate ballistic challenge, requiring absolute pinpoint accuracy and perfect lead mechanics while eliminating shoulder recoil entirely.

The Pinnacle of Precision

High-volume dove hunting in Córdoba is traditionally dominated by the 20-gauge semi-automatic, a tool designed to throw a massive, forgiving wall of lead (7/8 oz) at the bird. The .410 bore is the exact opposite. It is not a beginner's gun. Firing a tiny 1/2 oz payload of #8 shot through a narrow barrel means your pattern density at 30 yards is incredibly sparse. You cannot rely on the fringe of your shot string to knock down a dove; you must center the bird perfectly in the core of the pattern. Hitting 500 birds with a .410 bore requires vastly superior barrel mechanics, footwork, and sustained lead execution than hitting 1,500 birds with a 20-gauge.

Logistics of the .410 in Argentina

Shooting a .410 bore is an exercise in planning. You cannot simply arrive at a lodge and ask for one. .410 ammunition is exceptionally rare in Argentina compared to 20-gauge. It is custom-loaded or imported in tiny batches, making it significantly more expensive (often $5 to $8 more per box). Furthermore, premium estancias only keep two or three .410 over-and-unders or semi-automatics in their armories. If your goal is to shoot this sub-gauge, you must lock in the gun rental and the ammunition order with the AWS Concierge at least six months prior to your arrival.

Tactical Field Note: Because the .410 is so incredibly light, the barrel has almost no momentum. The most common reason expert shooters miss with a .410 is that they stop their swing the millisecond they pull the trigger. You must force a hyper-exaggerated follow-through to ensure the tiny payload intercepts the dove.
